regarding the organization of intercultural workshops – 1st edition
implemented from the project entitled: "IMPROVE - International Mission to Promote Research and Optimal Values in Education" as part of the STER NAWA programme, task 5 "A modern approach to scientific tasks in an international environment - opportunities, challenges, threats",

The Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of Lodz University of Technology invites you to participate in free intercultural workshops aimed at doctoral candidates studying at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of Lodz University of Technology and their supervisors.

The workshops provide an opportunity to learn about different cultural perspectives, exchange experiences and build relationships in an international academic environment. Their aim is to support intercultural integration and to develop attitudes of openness, tolerance and mutual respect that foster effective cooperation and communication.

Key information:

  • one group of 24 participants,
  • duration of the workshop: 8 academic hours (45 minutes in person, during which a coffee break and small refreshments are provided),
  • dates of the workshop – 17 June 2026 (Wednesday),
  • workshop language - English,
  • the workshops will be held in person – Lodz University of Technology, Alchemium, VIP room – 2nd floor
  • after the workshops, each participant will receive a confirmation of participation in the form of a certificate,
  • the workshops are conducted in accordance with the principles of equal treatment and accessibility, taking into account the needs of people with disabilities.

The participant of the workshop may be:

1. Supervisor/auxiliary supervisor of the Doctoral Candidate at ISD TUL

2. A doctoral candidate who currently implements training at IDS TUL (i.e. the training at IDS TUL is not suspended in accordance with Article 204 (3) of the Act and §10 of the IDS Regulations at TUL) and as of the day of the workshops, has the status of a doctoral candidate

3. Is highly motivated to develop intercultural competences and build relationships based on openness, tolerance and mutual respect.

4. Undertakes to participate in the workshops on a full-time basis, i.e. 8 academic hours.

5. Undertakes to supplement the necessary project documentation.

Recruitment will be carried out in accordance with the principles of equal access and non-discrimination. If the number of applications exceeds the number of places available, places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • changes to the schedule are permitted. All updates will be published on the IDS TUL website on an ongoing basis.
  • if all places are not filled during the first recruitment round, a supplementary recruitment round is planned. If the number of applicants exceeds the limit, a waiting list will be created.
  • The project is implemented by Lodz University of Technology under an agreement with the National Agency for Academic Exchange and financed by NAWA.

Information about the facilitator of the multicultural workshops – 1st edition 
implemented from the project entitled: "IMPROVE - International Mission to Promote Research and Optimal Values in Education" as part of the STER NAWA programme, task 5 "A modern approach to scientific tasks in an international environment - opportunities, challenges, threats",

Michał Bomastyk - PhD in Humanities (Philosophy) and author of the book on the issue of equality. Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Torun for Equity. President of the Board of the Institute for Prevention of Exclusions Foundation. Member of the Council for Equal Treatment at the Ministry of National Education, the Human Rights and Equal Treatment Committee of the Association of Polish Cities, and Chair of the Toruń Equal Treatment Council. Member of the Lab for Exclusion and Alienation Research at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. His research interests focus on feminist theories, otherness and strangeness, theories of exclusion, refugee studies, and gender studies. He is the initiator of the first helpline for man in Poland, operated by the Institute for Counteracting Exclusion Foundation. As a trainer and educator, he delivers workshops on equal treatment, gender equality, and nonviolent communication, with particular attention to intercultural issues. He believes in human rights and in the necessity of their protection.
