of the Director of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at Lodz University of Technology
dated 15 October 2025 
on the organisation of a Polish language course for foreigners, implemented as part of the project entitled: ‘IMPROVE - International Mission for the Promotion of Research and Optimal Values in Education’ under the STER NAWA programme,
task 4 ‘Intercultural learning beyond divisions - building a harmonious academic community,
in particular among doctoral students and supervisors’,
 
The Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at TUL announces the planned start of recruitment for participants in free Polish language courses for international doctoral candidates pursuing training at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at TUL. The aim of the course is to develop language skills enabling effective functioning in the academic and social environment in Poland and to learn about elements of Polish culture.
Basic information:
- two groups will be formed (10–11 people each),
 - course duration: 60 academic hours (45 minutes each) in a classroom setting, between November 2025 and June 2026
 - the course ends with a test/exam confirming knowledge of the Polish language
 - classes will be held in Łódź, the exact location of the course will be indicated at a later date,
 - each participant is required to sign a contract
 - after completing the course, each participant will receive confirmation of their level of Polish language proficiency
 - the course is conducted in accordance with the principles of equal treatment and accessibility, taking into account the needs of people with disabilities.
 
An international doctoral candidate may participate in the course if they:
- Are currently training at IDS TUL (i.e. their studies at IDS TUL have not been suspended pursuant to Article 204(3) of the Act and §10 of the IDS TUL Regulations) and will retain their doctoral candidate status throughout the course;
 - Are highly motivated to learn Polish and willing to integrate into the Polish academic community;
 - Undertake to participate in all classes within the 60-hour course in accordance with §8(4) of the IDS TUL Regulations;
 - Commit to completing the necessary project documentation and participating in tests to assess their level of Polish.
 
Recruitment will be conducted in accordance with the principles of equal access and non-discrimination. Applications will be accepted via an online form between 16 and 23 October 2025, available at:

The order of applications is decisive.
- changes to the schedule are permitted. All updates will be published on an ongoing basis on the IDS TUL website.
 - if all places are not filled during the first recruitment round, a supplementary recruitment round is planned. If the number of applicants exceeds the limit, a reserve list will be created.
 - the project is implemented by Lodz University of Technology under an agreement with the National Agency for Academic Exchange and financed by NAWA funds.
