We kindly invite you to participate in the SICSS-AMU/Law Summer School, which will be held inperson from June 9-20th, 2025 at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
SICSS-AMU/Law is a two-week summer school whose main goal is to spread the idea of applying computational science to the field of social sciences. The program provides for, among other things:
- The use of large language models in the social sciences;
- Predictive analysis of data using machine learning methods, e.g., to predict sentences;
- Applications of artificial intelligence in the legal field, e.g., AI assistant perspective for lawyers;
- Automated legal text processing (Legal NLP).
The program includes both theoretical and practical classes, including expert lectures by academics and representatives of international institutions. In previous editions, lectures were given by Michal Kosinski, Lucja Biel, David Rachel and Neel Guha, among others. The program also includes workshops on the use of the tools learned and the implementation of your own
research project under the guidance of our assistants.
The summer school is aimed at master's and doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and untenured faculty within 7 years of receiving their doctoral degree. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and fields of study, especially from groups currently underrepresented in the field of computational social science. Knowledge of programming is not required. There will be 20 participants selected for the summer school. Participation in the summer school is completely free of charge, and successful completion is confirmed by a certificate. The school is conducted entirely in English.
The deadline for applications is March 31, 2025 (midnight GMT+2). Applications, along with a resume and a short video/cover letter, should be submitted via Online Form.
